These 2 oil paintings were done under a very tight deadline. Yes- galleries have deadlines too sometimes! I would have liked to spent more time on the compositions and painting itself, but time forced me to work fast. I was tempted to return to my use of Copal Drier but I am really trying to avoid it. The stuff is so toxic, but it works fast. I switched over to Galkyd (on the recommendation from Greg Manchess) and it seems a lot less brain damaging and speeds up the drying process. Not as fast as Killer Copal, but I think I will live longer. I am actually boring myself as I write this, and reading this is probably as painful as watching paint dry. See - even my jokes are relevant, yet still void of any entertainment value. I apologize.
Both these paintings were for gallery shows based around the theme of Valentine's Day, with a focus on the darker end of love and relationships. Here is the info on the galleries:
The Strychnin Gallery for their Dark Hearts & Broken Vows show at their NYC gallery. Check the flyer here
Also I will have a piece for the Untitled Love Project

Scott, these are outrageously good! I love the top painting with the guy who looks like a Dr. Seuss character gone bad. Very cool, inspiring work!
Nifty! I love that you added close-ups. It's very nice to see how you're working the paint. I can almost smell its delicious deadly aroma. Like Leslie said, there's a subtle wicked undertone here but I'm drawn to it.

I must have a really bad sense of humor, because I was terribly entertained. haha. These are beautiful Scott. Nice to see you added your own twist on the theme too.
sweet you finished the girl in the cage-tree painting, the colors are the complete opposite of what I envisioned the completed painting having, yet they work so well. Shows what I know, HAH!.

Wow, Scott !!!
You impressed me to be THAT productive ! How do you manage your time ? That is impressive. I like a lot those last pictures. The "tree-man" with the girl on it carry something very strong, emotionally. Thanks for the beautyful pictures. And good luck with the show.
