Here's a little something before 2010 rolls in. I wouldn't exactly call this a "personal piece" -just a little something I would do on work breaks. It started off as a creature and just kept expanding. There weren't any sketches or thumbnails - just kind of playing. I'm not sure if I am going to keep working on it, but if you see anything that could help the piece I'd love to hear it!

Also - I apologize but I had to add on that secret code box when you comment. I really didn't want too , but the spammers are slamming my blog!

Happy New Year - scott

While I am not a fan of digital, I can still appreciate the picture. If it were mine, I would do a dark mountain or castle shape in the uper left hand background maybe going 2/3rds of the way across the background. Just a thought..

What secret code box ?!

Nice piece, definitely agree with the first post. Also the hand angle to sword angle of the main figure seems a bit off.

Tristan -thanks so much for the critique. Some good ideas there that I will have to consider. I really appreciate the effort and time to give and honest crit. It means alot to me.

Laurghita- haha -I just meant that word verification box that you get when you leave a comment :)

Charles - Cool, I'll definitely consider the revision on that. Again - I really appreciate the critiques. They are invaluable and each one helps me grow as an artist. Thank you!

I love the composition here Scott. The eye is drawn just where it should be. I have to admit to being a big fan of your 'colour', and wish I had your sensitivity. What is also good is the consistency between your digital and traditional painting. I really enjoyed the little ink sketch earlier as well. Happy 2010!

Hey Scott!
Looking awesome dude, I really love the colours on this one...the guy in red pops nicely and the creature looks wicked! Nice Job.
I could see you using some compositional element to darken the upper left a bit... I was thinking menacing clouds or something would look good up there.

Happy New Year to you too!

Guy with my first name!

Love the image, and I agree with the suggestion of something to activate the upper left corner.

Only other thing I see that may need a second look is the foreground warrior's back. Something is a lil odd in his right shoulder's anatomy as it connects to the back.

I nitpick. But I love.

Anthony- Thanks man! Hope everything is going well these days :)

Aly - Happy 2010 to you too bud. Thanks so much for the kind words man . They mean volumes coming from you. And whatever--your color rocks! Talk soon!

NQ- Nigelicious! I like the suggestion of some dark clouds....that might work! Thanks so much man. I really appreciate the crit. Happy New Year my friend :)

Scott! Thanks for the crit man. Nitpicking is important! It's those little things that can add up and bring a piece down (or up) and prevent (or assist) it from reaching a higher level. I love the crit! I hadn't noticed the anatomy issue, but I see whatchya mean now. I probably should have taken ref...story of my life :) Hopefully I can make these changes before Spectrum deadline...I will try!
Happy New Year dude :)
