Seashell Study in acrylics again using the same limited palette mentioned before. Even as a kid, I have always loved the various shapes and textures of seashells.
Yeah, me too..... My first collection was lost in a flood, now I'm starting over. I don't have too many, but I really like the ones I have. I took some photos a month ago thinking I would do some studies, but the pictures made me realize that I needed to rethink how I saw the shells. I think your idea of working with a limited pallet is a really good one.
Idahl - not that is funny but so odd that you lost your shells in a flood. They just wanted to go home :)
- Would love to see you do a study of some seashells. I didn't bother taking a photo. I felt studying it up an close , I was able to see so much more than I would have with a photo. Then again - I am a horrible photographer.
I like these little studies. Have you thought of joining the painting-a-day bandwagon? Some friends of mine are doing well with it.
It's funny, I just wrote to Andy Murry about his octopus lady now I'm compelled to say that my newest post is actually in honor of your shell. It's really a coincident though.
Thanks everyone! Tom - I have often thought about doing the painting a day thing. Some weeks I even do a little painting sketch a day. But then I know the minute I commit myself to be on a regular schedule of doing that I'll no longer want to do it. I'm difficult to work with...internally. :)

Lots of very interesting and fascinating studies! It's a very good idea and exercise to paint with a limited palette. Keep on!

Terrific sketch man, thanks for sharing! I'm really liking that bluish gray on the left part of the shell, very nice!
