I started this painting a long time ago, and decided I wanted to finish it up and move on to other personal works. It had been sitting for awhile in the studio, but then I got asked to participate in a group show. I figured this was a good incentive to finish it up. Lately I have been really enjoying surface texture , although I feel I was getting a bit self-indulgent. The piece will be at the 99% Gallery in Brooklyn , NY. The show opens July 16th.

oil on masonite panel, 12" x 16"

Here are some ink drawings I did for some chapter openers on a book in the works. Still struggling with the inks, but I am slowly learning. I just feel so stiff and tight when I ink, which is not how I work. I'll keep at it.

Lastly, just a sketch from the sketchbook:

Thanks for dropping in -s.

Hey Scott! nice work man, especially on the first one. I really like the brush work movement on his hair. by the way, that's really gross - bird coming out of the eye?! :)

Keep it up man.

The sketch book picture is very interesting. It has so much symbolism it feels like it should have a story to go with it. The flag, the bell and the boy all seem to say something. Love the blaclkk and white drawings, nice and free. The face with the bird in his eye IS creepy, lol.

Really cool work Scott! I wish I could make it to Brooklyn for your show. Have a good time out there, don't party too hard!

Luca- thanks! I hope you didn't get too grossed out. I'm really not trying to gross anyone out. Never even occurs to me that what I am doing is slightly gross. Does that make me gross? :)

Tristan -thanks! I certainly am interested in developing my own visual symbolism, so I am happy it resonates with you. Creepy ? Gross? What is wrong with me!!!?

Bakkenekko- Thank you very much!

Jeffrey - Thanks man! Looking forward to when you get a chance to share more art :)

Chris - Another vote for creepy eh ? :) Thanks man - coming from a color maestro like yourself I take that as quite a compliment .

Rodrigoart -Thanks so much .I really try to achieve that muted hues with subtle color so I take that as a huge compliment.

Ryan - Haaa- Thanks man. I will behave myself :)
