6.3.08 Book cover

Thanks to all the previous comments. It is always a pleasure to hear from you fine folks and certainly makes me feel like I am somewhat still in contact with the human race. Hermit life is cool - but it's so quiet sometimes, ya know!?

Going to make this a quick post, since I'm quite sleepy.
This was a cover for Night Shade Book's upcoming title, "Fast Ships, Black Sails". It will be a pirate anthology with a fantasy edge - so I am told.
One of my objectives was to go for a more muted palette, with punchy color in only a few areas. I would have loved to do this in oils but once again -time was my enemy. One day- I will conquer time ,and maybe space...and maybe my cookie habit.

I should also mention a big "thanks!" to my homie Dave Palumbo for lending me his eye on the composition of this piece.

Scott !
You're going to be what we call in France a "Monstre Sacré" if you continue like that ! What can I say aside that ? You never stop to impress me. So please, don't stop.
Hope all is well. Say hi to Adrienne and Dylan for me. ;)
Cheers,
J.

Ok. We get it. Your good. Enough already!!! Now your just pouring salt into our wounds.

Great cover my friend. The palatte, mood. It's all my bag. My favorite part would have to be the boat in the BG. Great atmosphere.

Is that a nod to Pyle in the first thumbnail? If so that's awesome and your awesome. ;)

adious!

Scott, my man, this is beautiful. I love that you post the thumbnails, even if they made me hideously jealous of your adept handling of values. Swine talented man.

Only thing that pecks at me is the nearness in values and chroma of the nearest critter to the viewer, and the boat and dude. That lower-right-hand corner gets a little muddy to me eye, matey. That's it, though. That skeletal parrot is a grand touch. ;)

cool new stuff

Your WoW Bull thingy image is the only depiction of the WHORED' design that I ever liked! Heh. You get 50 cool points for making 'retarded' look presentable ^ ^
